Mom and Dad

I wanted to post the most recent picture of Mom and Dad. This was taken June 18, 2007. They are both 81.

He's legal now.

Happy Birthday to Malcolm. 21 years old on June 20! Yes, I know. I'm way too young to have a son this old. Mike had a gig at Cat's Cradle that night, so we combined the celebrations... birthday dinner at the Vietnamese place + big rock show. A fun time was had by all.

Pittsboro Relay for Life

I wanted to post this picture for historical purposes. After all, what's more important than every mundane detail of MY life. Back in May, I was on the Evergreen Church Relay for Life team. We set up camp on the track at Northwood High School in Pittsboro and raised money for the American Cancer Society. Last year I stayed up all night, but this year I wimped out and left about 2am. I walked about 5 miles. My walk was dedicated to Dad, Britts, Pat L, Denise E and Patsy Fannin.

Karl

Malcolm named him Karl Marx, but his new nickname is "killer." He's been bringing in squirrels lately, and not those tiny baby ones either. We adopted Karl when his mama, Higgid, showed up on the doorstep with 4 kittens in tow. We kept Karl and found homes for the rest of them. Karl is such an affectionate cat. He loves me. How do I know...because he brings me freshly killed squirrels. That is the sign of true affection.

Kitty Boy Jones

or as he's known to his friends, Mr. Jones. He is definitely the boss guy around here. It's nice that he lets us live here in his house though. He is not crazy about the other cats, but he seems to tolerate them, as long as they remember who's in charge.

From the happy hooker

Vicky, this is for you. I promised to get a picture of one of my crochet projects. These little dolls are called Amigarumi. It's a Japanese crochet that is done in spirals. I've also done other small projects, like purses, bags and scarves. I'm too lazy to do anything much larger. For you knitters out there, Vicky has pictures of her projects on her blog. She does incredibly intricate work AND she spins her own yarn.

More pictures of some of my crocheted things are at:

The Kids

I'm not thrilled about this program. I can only get one picture up per post. Anyway, here's a fairly recent photo of All My Children. Jon, Malcolm and Hannah. Adorable? Yes. Annoying? Sometimes. Do I love them? Of course, more than anyone could ever know.

"If you think we're bad now...

...you shoulda seen us befo we had chil'ren." Mike's band Stratocruiser played a gig at Broad Street Cafe in Durham on Friday night. The regular bass player, Jack, has since moved to Wilmington, so they were breaking in a new guy, Mark, who did a great job. The other regulars are Clay, lead singer and Matt, drummer. Everything you ever want to know about Stratocruiser is available on the website (see link over there on the side). It was a fun show. I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in ages. I need to get out more often.

I've been published!

Here our lovely model is showing the first book I published with Heritage Makers. I decided to do the first book about Jon, since he is the oldest and all that. It really turned out most excellently. Now the INFOMERCIAL: if you are feeling the need to capture your story in your own book, then we need to talk. Once again that website address is:

Walking on the wild side

If you look closely you will see an iquana in the branches. While in Florida, my BFF Susan (she calls herself "Susie" these days, but she'll always be Susan to me) took me to a wildlife park. When we were walking out, this particular iquana decided to give me a little parting gift and memento of my trip. Let me just say his aim was admirable. And the smell was ridiculous. I don't know what they feed these guys down there.

My Friends and Coworkers

Here's the Medical Policy Development Department at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. A motley crew for sure, but we manage to get the job done. They will be horrified to see this up on the web, but they'll get over it eventually.

Soaking up some rays in Delray Beach

I got to spend Memorial Day weekend in Florida with my old junior high school friend, Susan. She was kind enough to fly me down there and feed me for 3 days. We had a great time. More pictures to follow...
